First and foremost, I want to thank the daycare that accepted my internship and allowed me to experience firsthand the intricate responsibility it is to be a childcare professional. The support I received from the owner and director and also the other fellow professionals was more than I could’ve wished for. Their suggestions were not only helpful, but also very insightful and applicable to what activities I had to plan and take part in. The parents were also very friendly and were definitely willing to work with me whether in the daycare setting or when I paid home visits.
The field of child education and care is a tough one to be a professional in, and it will get even tougher with all the budget cuts that are being done across the nation as a result of the recession. Now, with even more imminent adversity, colleagues in this field need to band together and be supportive of one another. Together, working as one, we can succeed in making the most of our limited resources that ultimately aren’t for our own benefit but for the benefit of the young ones, who are our future and should be protected at all costs

What inspires me the most about my advocacy focus plan is to be able to make a difference in the lives of children; and what better way than by creating a dynamic group who’s sole purpose is to raise money and other benefits for the children of the daycare. An exciting element of being an advocate is also working with strangers and meeting new people in the process.
I am very much afraid that my efforts will be futile in the end. I do have to remember and keep in mind that failure is a possibility. I just have to remain positive and even if I do fail to bring about significant change to not get discouraged. On the contrary, it should motivate me to work harder. In encouraging others, I can always let them know this, that our efforts may seem in vain at first but they’ll always lead to something else, even if it is just more awareness about the issues among the community and the others affected by it.

EDU 412: My Personal Advocacy Journey

Yes I believe that education is the best for the future of the children but what I found most interesting is the fact that if a child had a delay their future depends on that and a lot of times parent are in denial to go take their children tested for any delay that it keeps them in a stage that they cannot develop appropriate and there is where their future holds back.

BLOG 1

I find the idea of working with people very exciting. More importantly, working with underprivileged people and knowing that I am doing everything in my power to help them in their problems I find very gratifying. One anxiety that I feel is not being able to help them ultimately.

The most effective way I feel would help in overcoming emotions is to understand that while we are trying to help them in all possible ways there are things that are out of our power. Now this is not an excuse to not try hard in our advocacy programs, but it is still important to keep in mind that failure is a possibility.

Welcome to my Blog

I enjoyed reading everyone's blogs and I would like to continue to read them and learn more about the different Advocacy Action Plan of each one.
